The talk investigates the relation between human vision und optical devices. It asks what and how we see through optical devices and how we can explain this preposition in a contemporary context of imaging technology. It draws upon the assumption that today‘s optical devices increasingly contest the separation of looking at something and looking at a representation of something – between what is iconic and what is perceived.
