Eyes of Things

Eyes of Things” is a new Horizon 2020 funded Programme aiming „to build an optimized core vision
platform that can work independently and also embedded into all types of
artefacts.“ It assembles a variety of actors, also form outside of academia. Their mission statement draws upon the old concept of ubiquitous vision which indeed seems to become a technical reality as „computer vision is rapidly moving beyond academic research and factory automation“ and as imaging technology becomes increasingly integrated into daily habits. The question however, if the increasing mobilization of imaging devices could be used as “eyes everywhere”, as the project claims, is a highly complex and controversial issue, that will needs critical perspectives also from outside the tech domain that are able to evaluate the consequences of the visual architecture. I will ldefinetly observe what is going on there, their kickoff meeting is on January 27th 2015 in Spain.
